Ming Dynasty Saucer Dish With Hongzhi Reign Mark

Here we have a lovely Chinese saucer dish, which is painted with a blue underglaze and has dragons chasing the flaming pearl by way of pattern. The dish bears the Hongzhi six character mark and is from an established collection and measures 27.5 centimetres in diameter. The dish is in very good condition and is available for £785 subject to prior sale. (Item 160).

The Hongzhi Emperor born Zhu Youcheng lived from (1470 - 1505) and was an Emperor from the middle years of the Ming Dynasty. His era name means "great government." He was known as a peace loving Emperor and had the distinction of being monogomous with only one Empress and no concubines.
